A Home That Became Part of Our Story
Long before this home became a familiar part of Southern Exterior Designs’ advertising, it was a project built from the ground up by our founder, Ernest (Ernie) Sims, in Savannah, Georgia, in 1993.
Over the years, its recognizable exterior became closely connected with Southern Exterior Designs, appearing throughout the company’s advertising and becoming a lasting part of our history.
Today, the home represents more than where we’ve been. It reflects the pride in craftsmanship, attention to detail, and commitment to quality that have guided Southern Exterior Designs for more than 35 years.

Southern Exterior Designs was founded by Ernest and Leslie with a simple goal: to provide homeowners with quality exterior home improvement products and the dependable service to match. From the beginning, they believed the experience should be about more than the products themselves. Homeowners should feel confident in the people they choose to work on their homes.
That commitment helped Southern Exterior Designs grow throughout Savannah and the surrounding communities, largely through relationships, referrals, and word of mouth. Ernest became a familiar face in the community, while Leslie played an important role in managing the business and supporting its growth behind the scenes. Integrity, personal service, and treating customers well became part of the company's foundation.
More than 35 years later, Southern Exterior Designs continues to help local homeowners improve and protect their homes with replacement windows, vinyl siding, and entry doors. Back in the day (2003) if you wanted to find a company, you used the business ad section of a paperback telephone directory. We “let your fingers do the walking through the Yellow Pages” and found Southern Exterior Designs. This is truly a great company. They came when scheduled, installed windows and a sliding glass door quickly and efficiently, cleaned up debris and hauled off the old windows and door. You couldn’t ask for better service. A short while later we hired them to install some siding as well as to encase the soffit and fascia (no more exterior painting). Now, almost 23 years later, everything looks like NEW You’d think they just did the work. Don’t hesitate to give them a call. You’ll be glad you did.
